January Challenge

Tue Dec 21, 2004, 1:00 PM
THE FANTASY EXCHANGE JANUARY CHALLENGE

Since the Fantasy Exchange is just getting off the ground, we decided to start things off with a Challenge instead of an Exchange. Challenges are geared to get you thinking in a different direction with your material.

The Challenge Topic for January is:

NEW BEGINNINGS / FRESH

Be sure to check out the rules listed below and on our F.A.Q. page.

Fantasy Exchange F&Q

For the moment, this journal will be FE’s information area. Later, we are planning on creating an actual deviation so we’re not filling all of our journal space with the “legal” mumbo jumbo.

Purpose

To help inspire and encourage interaction of fantasy artists and writers through monthly exchanges and/or theme challenges.

Membership

We ask that anyone who is interested in joining please send a note with “Join” as a subject and the following information:

:bulletblue: Why you would like to join.
:bulletblue: What fantasy art/writing means to you.
:bulletblue: A few character examples with links to the work you would like to exchange.

The information you provide us not only helps use better understand the needs of the group as a whole, but also provides ‘starter’ exchanges so that other members won’t have to scroll through large galleries to find the ‘perfect’ one to work on.

We ask that you add us to your journal footer or signature to help spread the word to other fantasy artists. You do not have to do both, just one or the other.

Our one requirement is every member MUST participate in at least one exchange or challenge every two months. Without this participation, we will not be able to fully function.

We do understand that life gets in the way for us all, when this happens, we ask that you PLEASE note us so that we may remove your name from the exchange for that period of time.

Anyone who has not participated in six months will be removed from membership. (With the exception of those who have informed us of life circumstances.)

Exchanges

Exchanges happen every two months, we put member’s names into a hat, drawing two at a time. These two members take a look at one another’s work and create ‘new’ art based on the original artist’s work.

The links you provide us in your “Join” note help us help artists who can’t decide which to work on. Members are encouraged to interact with one another with any questions they may have regarding the art.

:!: ALL EXCHANGES MUST HAVE A LINK TO THE ORIGINAL ARTIST OR ART PIECE IN THE DESCRIPTION:!:

We don’t want anyone coming back and saying someone else stole their idea. This is for everyone’s best interest. We WILL be checking all submissions, and anyone who does not follow this guideline will be asked to correct it before allowing the submission. Failure to do so will result in permanent membership loss.

We’re not heartless, we’ll give you plenty of time to fix the mistake, and we know how hard it is to remember ALL of the details.

Challenge Themes

During the non-exchange months, we will be doing fantasy theme challenges. We give a certain scenario/suggestion, and you do the rest. For this portion of the group, we encourage our artists to submit as many, or as little, as they would like. As our membership gets larger, this may change in the future.

Submissions

When you are ready to submit your piece to ~fantasy-exchange, send us a note with the following information:

:bulletblue: If it is an exchange or challenge.
:bulletblue: Title of your piece.
:bulletblue: Link to your piece
:bulletblue: Anything you would like to add about your piece

Once we receive this information, we will create an EXACT copy to the group’s deviations and add your Dev ID to the title. This way, everyone gets recognition, and other members don’t have to hunt down group submissions.

Other Stuff

As our membership grows, and we learn more about those involved with the group, we will begin conducting Contests and having group discussions. We’re hoping that our membership will grow large enough to enable us to purchase a subscription in the future.

Anyone who has any questions that are not answered here, please note us here or contact either *questingraven or * Dolphinryder. Please DO NOT post them as a reply to the journal, comments add up quickly, and we do not want you lost in the shuffle.

DevWatching is encouraged for anyone, member or non-members, but we ask that you do not +fav anything here. Go to the artist’s page and let THEM know how much you liked their art on THEIR page.
